It is no secret that Elegant Themes is working hard on Divi 5.0. Elegant Themes has been going to great lengths to keep its users updated as they go. Most of these updates are of the technical variety, so I think the main question here is, Do you care? Most non-technical Elegant Theme users are going to say that no, they don’t really care. Let’s keep this post very NON-TECHNICAL and right to the point. In other words, what do you really want to know about Divi 5.0? Let’s look at the basic reasons that Elegant Themes is giving for doing this major in the first place. Here is what they had to say about 5.0 in their own words…
“Divi 5.0 is a Foundational Update as Divi’s core is being completely rewritten. This version of Divi will focus on performance, stability, scalability and extend-ability.”
What does all this mean for YOU as a basic Divi user?
1. PERFORMANCE – If you just want a page builder that loads fast and allows you to get the task at hand done quickly, then 5.0 will interest you. Speed is the first thing that Elegant is looking to improve upon. While I have always found Divi to be reasonably quick, there is room for improvement. According to reports on the Alpha version of Divi 5.0 the overall performance of the builder has been greatly improved.
2. STABILITY – Raise your hand if you still ONLY use Divi on the Backend. I still see complaints about Divi not saving correctly on the frontend. While I honestly feel that some of these reports are over-exaggerated, I will be the first to admit that it DOES happen. The builder can get hung up at times before it saves on more complex pages. These types of issues have been addressed in Divi 5.0. You are sure to get a much more reliable user experience with 5.0.
3. SCALABILITY – While just the word scalability makes this post sound more technical than it needs to, I ASSURE you that even the most basic Divi user will care about this, Why? Allowing developers the flexibility to scale the new builder while remaining stable will give everyone a more robust and reliable user experience.
4. EXTEND-ABILITY – This will allow Divi to remain relevant long into the future. The way that developers interact with Divi is being completely re-written. According to Elegant, it will be much easier to build new functionality into Divi. At the end of the day we should get more cool features added to Divi.
No matter how you look at this Divi 5.0 will be a win win even for the most basic users. There is no big learning curve as it will basically look the same. With more speed and reliability it will be a much more user friendly experience. You will be able to get your pages built with ease. There hasn’t been any indication that Elegant will have any major raise in prices. As it stands now Divi is the best deal to there when yo consider everything you get with an Elegant Themes membership.
There has never been a better time to get an Elegant Themes membership so you can ease into Divi 5.0 as it becomes available.
